My (what is surely going to be) my final potluck at my job is Friday. My expiration date as "intern" is coming up and I don't see it happening twice and three weeks. (Let's not talk about the natural follow-up questions there. Really, I promise to share good news.) Anyways, we have a lot of potlucks at work.
I like potlucks and I like food in the workplace. I think they engender good feelings and positive morale. I don't always love how they get executed though. They tend to be a glut of processed foods and sugar. Most people do a good job, in terms of what they bring. It's either homemade or vegetables or something, but the thing that annoys me is the person who decides to run to KFC for a bucket right beforehand. Not only is it totally unneeded, as there is more than enough food, it just bugs me. It's unhealthy and lazy and gets my snooty hackles raised.
That's not really the point though, I just needed to complain for a second. I wish I could mandate more healthy options, but it's where I am reminded that I live and work in middle America and that my ideas of healthy food and eating are different than my otherwise lovely co-workers. My problem is that I've got my most-likely LAST potluck and I don't know what to make.
Normally, I bake. Easy peasy, but I was slow to sign up and there are already a lot of people bringing sweets. In fact, all bases seem to be covered. I hate to not bring anything, but we do always have more food than is necessary. Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought about maybe some sort of drink, but I'm anti-soda. Maybe I'll pick up a gallon of apple cider.
Apple cider's a great idea. Or how about some apples and some caramel to dip them in? Or is that too unhealthy? Yummy though!

I was thinking possibly dip, but then I didn't do anything. Now I'm most likely bring apple cider. Oh laziness.

What about stopping at KFC and getting some fried chicken? I hear that goes over well at these things.
